The First Annual East Coast Kayak Fishing Championship Series

This series is a collaboration of three continuing regional
charity tournaments: 1.) The
Jamaica Bay Tournament (NY) on May 6-7, 2006, 2.) Jacksonville
Kayak Fishing Classic (FL) on May 20th, 3.) Tidewater
Kayak Fishing Association Tournament (VA) on September
30th.
By participation in any or all of the three tournaments competitors
will earn points towards the East Coast Championship. The
competitors who earn the most points will be crowned East
Coast Champion. The "Top Ten" East Coast Anglers
will also be named. You do not have to compete in all tournaments
to qualify. In addition to each tournament entry fee you must
pay a one time fee of $10. At the end all proceeds from the
$10 entry fee will go to the champion's choice of charity
(must be one of the three charities sponsored by the three
tournaments). Tournament Series scoring and fees will be managed
by the Tidewater Kayak Anglers Association. TKAA is a non-profit
sport fishing club under section 501 (c) (7) of the Internal
Revenue Code. Payment must be received by TKAA by the May
6th deadline. Representatives from TKAA will be at the Jamaica
Bay Tournament Captains Meeting to collect last minute entries.
After the deadline, there will be no further entries allowed.
Competitors must abide by the rules set forth at each tournament.
There will be Flyfishing and an Open Divisions. The champion
will receive the East Coast Kayak Fishing Cup. This series
will be a true measure of angling skills as it takes place
in three different fisheries. There will be no prizes, only
bragging rights, and a HUGE trophy. Winner will be featured
in an article in Paddler Magazine.
The point structure will be as follows:
All participants will get 5-points for participating; scores
will increase to the following values if they place in a division.
Note Scoring will vary with each tournament.
